Prepare
Water, Grass, and Ice help. Deep Dark is dangerous — go prepared.

Craft the map
- Search Giovanni in REI and craft Boss Ring.
- Craft a fresh Empty Map.
- Combine Empty Map + Boss Ring in the Kanto Cartography Table (or trade a Map Guide villager).
- Hover the finished map for coordinates. Details: Gym maps.
Important
Do not open the Empty Map in the world first — that ruins it for gym crafting. Use the correct region cartography table.
Fight tips
Deep Dark is lethal. Scout carefully, then fight Giovanni at full health.
- Travel with heals; activate waystones on the route.
- Clear gym trainers if you need XP or CobbleDollars.
- Heal, then challenge Giovanni.
- Win → level cap rises → next: Lorelei.
